Kazan
The capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
Total Population 1,143,535
Kazan is a city with a long history
which strikes in its unpredictability. Indeed, as in a large cauldron (or, to be precise, in a kazan), culture, religion and the history of East and West were mixed.
On the one bank there is an old Kremlin and a cathedral which were founded in the 12th century, and on the other - modern buildings and skyscrapers of the 21st century. On the streets of the city you can find any monuments — cats, carriages, and even Kazan drake.
Kazan is one of the brightest examples of how people of different nationalities and religions live peacefully, in an atmosphere of friendliness and tolerance in one city. The city has 125 places of worship, including 65 mosques, 45 Orthodox churches, 12 churches of other Christian denominations, 1 synagogue, prayer houses of Bahai and Krishna.
In addition, Kazan has a unique cultural code. On the city map there are more than 1000 cultural artifacts that form the cultural diversity of the capital.
